karenVsandon

Karen was born in Frankston, Victoria Australia and grew up in the beachside sand belt of Melbourne’s southern suburbs. After a career in social welfare, later qualifications and careers in adult learning and small business, Karen returned to her first love and continued lifeblood: Visual Art. She returned to Monash University as an undergraduate in 2006. She received 2 awards for excellence and the Monash Jubilee Scholarship in her honours year. She has been practising as a professional artist for more than 10 years. Karen returned again and graduated as Master of Visual Arts from Monash University in 2013.

She lives in Corinella, Victoria, Australia on the shores of the inter-tidal waterway known as ‘Westernport’. Karen shares her life with her husband Stephen, and their Kelpie, Minhi. She exhibits regularly at least once a year in private and public settings. Her work is held in public and private collections across 15 countries and most states in Australia.

In 2016 karenVsandon opened a-binding-PRESS; a public access print workshop and studio where she offers her own work for sale and runs programs with others to share and develop their skills in artist printmaking and continue her investigations into place, culture and identity.

Drop in to 24 Cuthbert Street, Corinella to view more of karen’s work or make yourself a print. The studio is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays and other times by appointment.  Or see more of karen’s work here.
